Akron/Family @ Tonic

Akron/Family played 2 sold out shows at Tonic on Saturday night. The shows were kind of spotty in my opinion. The band performed mostly new material from an album they have not yet recorded. Most of these songs sounded great. A few of these songs had a very Neil Young feel to them. The problem with the shows was that the band never seemed to really find their groove. The highlight of both shows came in the first set when the band invited Hamid Drake and William Parker to jam with them on the song The Rider.

Spotty, eh? Bummer. Did Hamid Drake and Parker do an opening set?

Nice pics, as usual!

They did do an opening set for both shows and it was totally fucking awesome. I am going to post about it later in the week. Hamid Drake's drumming blew my mind.
