New Orleans Jazz Fest 2006

There was a lot of talk about music festivals this week with the announcement of the initial lineups for both Coachella and Bonnaroo. But most bloggers didn't even mention that the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival confirmed that they will be holding the festival as planed. Anyone that has been to Jazzfest knows that this is event is about more than just music it is a cultural event. This years festival is even more important because New Orleans need tourists. So I suggest to everyone that has ever thought about going, go and be part of what might be the most significant Jazzfest ever.

Broken Social Scene @ Webster Hall

Something just never clicked for me during Broken Social Scene third and final show at Webster Hall. Perhaps it was the horrible sound, or maybe it was the fact that they have close to twenty people on stage performing what could be played by half as many people. Whatever it was I just wasn't that impressed and I don't think I was the only one. Most of the crowd seemed a little bored at one time or another. This isn't to say it was a bad show, there were some good moments. Among the highlights was the singing of Emily Hanies. Her vocals and onstage persona were amazing to say the least. Overall this show bust didn't get me rocking the way I hoped it would.
